I have a Vintage 18″ wired Electric cylinder mower, currently not working. I have purchased a new starter capacitor, but newer capacitors seem to have an ‘earth’ terminal at the base. The present capacitor fitted is just a cable connection to the motor. Does the Capacitor need to be earthed please ?

Is it an earth terminal or a stud for mounting the capacitor, which may also be an earth? I don’t see any reason why it would need an earth other than safety.
