    Hi all
I am new to the forum so would first of all like to say hello to you all, and thank you for allowing me to join the forum.

    I am based in Cheshire

I am new to this world and have recently purchased an old machine which from the little research I have done believe it to be a Westwood possibly a T1100 but will be happily guided on this?

The engine is a Honda GV400

It drives and runs ok but the belt needs adjustment to get the cutting deck working.

I am looking to do a light restoration as I want this in regular use.

And help, advice and pointers greatly appreciated especially sourcing parts once I can confirm the make and model.

    Hello

The Westwood is usually an easy machine to work on and get replacement bits like belts etc.

I take it that it is a twin-blade mower deck? And 36″?

The mower deck is the earlier version with the angular sides, rather than the later rounded deck. That indicates it might be a later W11 model with the black front nose. This would be late 1970s to 1984ish.

If you think it is a T1100 then that would be the mid-1980s, but that would usually be seen with the rounded deck.

If it was a W11 or T1100, then it would originally have had an 11hp Briggs & Stratton engine with electric start.

My Westwood tractor list gives initially the:

    W6 – 6hp – 28″ deck
    W8 – 8hp – 28″ deck
    W11 – 11hp – 36″ deck

    Then from 1984-86 the:

    S600 – 6hp – 30″ deck
    S800 – 8hp – 30″ deck
    S1100 – 11hp – 32″ deck
    T800 – 8hp – 36″ deck
    T1100 – 11hp – 36″ deck

All had Briggs & Stratton engines – all electric start apart from the basic W6 and the basic S600.

Many thanks Alan, sounds like it’s had a replacement engine at some point then. I need to have a more detailed look at it but it’s currently stored at my parents.
I will also try to get some more photos next time I am there
