ParticipantHi all i have recently purchased a trusty steed mk2 with electrics. It’s a tug tractor with no implement lift with a jap engine. ( as it was ordered on the 27/ 02 /1959) im wanting to know if anyone can help me with any photographs or diagrams of how the starter/ dinamo was situated. The tractor is in bits without this being evident atall although I have the fuel tank bracket with the battery tray one end and the dash the other. It’s a very late machine being number 422 as they finished production at number 427 i believe. If anyone could help i would be very grateful. I have looked in Geoff books and have seen the picture of the one made for general lighterage company limited for the use at London docks but this one was ordered by a mr Gregory in Cheshire. I have asked the chap that the person brought it off of that I purchased it from and he says that he members his dad buying it off of a mr Don Gregory. And that they brought it in bits to so….

charlieKeymasterAs far as I know the dates in the Trusty register are from the factory records, so I would assume those to be correct.

alanParticipantI have looked at Geoff’s scans of the original factory records for the Steed.
Number 422 was sent to the agricultural dealership F. C. Adamson, Swanland, East Yorkshire, and is dated 13/04/1965. It was sent out fitted with grassland tyres.
On the same date, the preceding Steed 421 with standard motor car tyres was also sent to F. C. Adamson. Adamson also received the Steed 423 on 30/04/65, and the Steed 424 on 21/05/65.

ParticipantHi yes very sorry that is what I was told I re red the message. That is fantastic to find this out. I can also see it says its fitted with a dynastart. Do we know how this was fitted. From what I can see with what I have it was belt driven and I have a small shaft with a 2 blade fan and its also belt driven. I would assume it would haveto be mounted behind the engine? Because there would be very little space in front?

charlieKeymasterCurrently sorting through and cataloguing the Trusty enginering drawings. Not seen anything yet for dynastart on Steed and not sure all drawings are there. This is going to take some time to complete.
