    Hi there,
    im in the process of restoring our rotorvator that we have had in the family for about 50 years ,we used it alot back in the day but haven’t used it for a while now ,the engine was rebuilt by my uncle about 30 years ago ,he worked a the villiers factory in Wolverhampton at the time before it shut down ,He put a new engine shroud on it ,so it has no serial number to go from ,i have took pics of it for you to have a look at ,also im missing the original air filter assy and the lever that fits on the back that i think controls the depth if any body has a spare ,thanks wayne

    Your Monrotiller is a series 2 machine. It has two forward gears and no reverse. It is a pity the serial number has been lost as I could give exact date from factory records held by the VHGMC and which I am custodian of. Did your family but it new? If so it may be possible to find it in the records as most buyers name and address are listed.
    I will see what |I have in my second hand spares, no promises. The good news is that the original engineering drawings are held at Museum of English Rural Life (MERL) at Reading. I have been helping catalogue them.

    Hi Charlie thanks for the reply,
    It seems only to have one forward gear with no lever to change gear, also its been in the family as long as I can remember, my families name is Brazier from Pattingham Staffordshire if that helps thanks for any information you find

    The gear change is operated by a lever on the right hand handlebar, it is like the clutch lever on the left. A cable should be attached to the operating arm on the rear of the gearbox. If you do not have an owners manual, which includes a parts list, let me know your e mail address via personal message and I can send a copy.
    I will have a look through the records and see if I can find anything.
