Hello I’ve just purchased a MG2 should there be a spring below the strangle knob on the carb to hold it up? It’s currently just at the bottom I can turn it to the right and it stays down and stays in same place when undone thanks Stuart

Yes there should be a return spring and also a small clip that fits around the rod in the slot of the top cap. The clip allows the rod to turn to the groove allowing the strangler to stay down against the pressure of the return spring.
