Another busy day yesterday spent at MERL cataloguing the Geo Monro drawings. In excess of 1200 drawings now catalogued and only another two box fulls to go.
Amongst the drawings are a number with tables that list items such as nuts, bolts, washers, split pins etc. Each drawing covers one item eg rivets and gives dimensions and material, the important part is they also detail how these items are designated in the parts catalogue.
An example is plate 5 of the Rototiller 35 parts list has rivet part number R6025 rivet for wheel lock bracket. With the information contained in the table on the drawing it is possible to work out dimension of the rivet ie 6mm diam 25mm length.
Some drawings relate to Rowtrac, whilst others are for unidentified machines; some refer to Sundstrand and one range has drawing numbers starting with SK and appear to be a rotavator with 3 speed and reverse gearbox, not a Monro Tiller series 3.

Eventually these drawing will be essential to someone or other, helping them to make parts and keep machines going. Well Done!

They have already proved useful, it is where i got correct dimensions for clutch plates, also enabled me to give another member dimensions of a spring in the breather of a Rototiller 56.

Another enjoyable day spent at MERL, 8 boxes of drawings now catalogued, approx 1900 drawings. Among the interesting finds are a few drawings dated 1957 referring to a Monro Tiller series 4 and another showing parts only used on Monro Tiller for Canadian market. One box of untitled or un-numbered drawings to do then a review of the other group and possible recording of those.

To give some idea of what is within this collection (TR DX 493 and TR DX 1607):-
    2553 drawings cataloged.
1689 parts identifiable by part number.
1813 can be matched with a specific model of machine.
762 relate to various models of Rototiller, mostly model 56.
    205 relate to Monro Minor.
304 relate to Monro Tiller all types.
    256 relate to Rowtrac.
There are still some to be cataloged and those in TR DX 493 need looking at again to identify part numbers and model where possible.
