A few weeks ago I received a call from a non-member that I know pretty well. He’d broken a clutch spring on his Trusty and was urgently needing a replacement, so I gave him the number of someone who we have been using for the last few years. Apparently this source of springs has now dried up with no prospect of having a new batch made, and so we had a dilemma.
With the amount of Trusty tractors in the club the problem is only going to get worse the longer we left it, so we commissioned a new batch to be made. These have now been delivered in time for the Newark Show, so if anyone needs a pair they will be available from the club stand.
The photo below shows one of the new springs alongside an original one. There really is no difference at all, except the new one will deliver a better performance than the old ones that aren’t properly matched after all these years.
