franktonpaget started the topic The Hudson HF10 Rowcrop Tractor in the forum Ride-on machines 5 years, 3 months ago

Came across a article on this machine introduced in 1946 by Kenneth Hudson and Sons and had never seen one or seen mention in any books or magazines.
Has anyone seen one or have any information ?
I know Kenneth Hudson made implements and then merged with Salopian to become SKH part of the Rubery Owen organisation
Looks somewhat on the same layout…[Read more]

franktonpaget replied to the topic Martin Markham Trailer Renovation – Help! in the forum Projects 7 years, 2 months ago

Having a sort out at present and came across a spare parts list for a Martin Markham all steel 70/90 Trailer with a A3 size centre fold exploded view of the trailer with blow up’s of hydraulics, brakes, hitch etc

Send me a PM with your E mail details and I will scan and send to you.
Unlike yours it has steel deck and sides but running gear and…[Read more]

franktonpaget started the topic The Winget by Pederick Tractor in the forum General talk and discussion 7 years, 3 months ago

Interesting article in a Australian magazine I subscribe to on the Winget tractor produced under license by the Pederick Engineering Company at Wagin in Western Australia
Under the arrangement Winget supplied one complete tractor and the Lister engine, transmissions and steering gear for 14 further tractors.Pederick manufactured the chassis, front…[Read more]

franktonpaget started the topic Bradford Nu-Trac Tractor in the forum General talk and discussion 7 years, 4 months ago

I subscribe to the Australian magazine The Old Machinery Magazine (TOMM) and in the last issue was a article on the Bradford Nu-Track Tractor written by Patrick Knight

These were a interesting single crawler track machine introduced in 1948 and although at least one survives in Australia I have never seen or heard of any survivors in this…[Read more]

franktonpaget replied to the topic Ransomes MG, Do you need a driver ? in the forum General talk and discussion 8 years ago

Seen at the Royal Show 1993 on display was the Powa-Trac 36 Crawler about the same size as a MG40 with a Lombardini diesel engine powering hydraulic drive, attachments and pto

Developed in Jersey as the salesman said to replace the old Ransome MG crawlers that were getting a bit long in the tooth
Quite a nice looking modern machine ,I only saw…[Read more]

franktonpaget started the topic Ransomes MG, Do you need a driver ? in the forum General talk and discussion 8 years ago

Came across another article in a Agricultural Machinery Journal from 1970 reporting the development of Richardson Automatic Cultivating Equipment which used a Ransomes MG as the development testbed.
The MG with mounted ploughs at front and back was driverless and used a sensor controlled pneumatically controlled operation system invented by a Mr…[Read more]

I think the points made by Charlie are spot on and a completely valid view of restoring any machine

The Ransomes mowers were made in much larger numbers than the crawlers and as a result have probably survived in larger numbers as well. If you have made efforts to find a good home without any joy you have taken the right course

franktonpaget started the topic Stanhay Straddle Carrier in the forum General talk and discussion 8 years, 1 month ago

In another Power Farming magazine I read as sorting through was a article about increased mechanisation in the Fruit growing industry and mentioned the Stanhay Straddle carrier which I think comes within the scope of VHGMC
Designed and built by Stanhay in Kent using Landrover Components they could carry six fruit storage bins from field to store…[Read more]

franktonpaget started the topic Ransomes MG Canefield Sprayer Conversion in the forum General talk and discussion 8 years, 1 month ago

The problem with having a sort out is you start reading the stuff you are sorting and not much progress is made !!!!

Reading a 1973 copy of Power Farming came across a Ransome MG5 conversion to a sprayer for use in Australian Canefields
It says a great deal for the Ransomes components that “up-engine” to a 30 hp Ford driving the machine and the…[Read more]

franktonpaget replied to the topic OTA & MONARCH Tractors at Newark Show in the forum General talk and discussion 8 years, 5 months ago

I think eight different owners brought either OTA or Monarch tractors to the show. You do not see many OTA or Monarch tractors out on the rally scene, but speaking to owners and visitors it would appear that some have up to ten OTA and Monarch tractors in various states of repair at home.
The cast front OTA rowcrop came onto the market in 1948…[Read more]

franktonpaget replied to the topic Winget tractor restoration advice in the forum Projects 8 years, 7 months ago

The person you need to contact is Dick Bentley the Club Helpline expert on Winget and MSW tractors.

Contact details are in the Cultivator

Are you sure it is a Winget rather than a MSW ?
I understood that Wingets had Lister SR1 engines and a Newage gearbox while the MSW developed from the Winget had Petter or Hatz diesels or Kohler or Wisconsin…[Read more]

Tom Ranyard a keen OTA and Monarch tractor owner has been putting together a display of these tractors at the Newark Show
It has not been widely advertised apart from one small write up in T&M magazine

It is 60 years since production of the Singer Monarch ceased on the takeover of the Singer Motor Co by the Rootes Group
Tom is hoping to have…[Read more]

The OTA tractor is listed separately in the Farm Implements guide so is not the Fortuna tractor.
The OTA tractor was exported to Australia as the OTA tractor and the main importer was the Dickson Primer Co

I am the registrar for OTA and Singer Tractors in the Singer Owners Club although mainly cars Singer did produce in early days cycles and…[Read more]

One entry is for the Fortuna tractor with makers given as A.P. & E Singer Ltd, Park Mansions Arcade,Knightsbridge, London SW1.
