I will also have a play with the fuel mix adjustment as well. I found the valve clearance and it should be between 2 and 5 thou on the inlet and 5 and 7 on the exhaust. I did as you suggested and found that the multiplug at the bottom of the voltage regulator was not pushed together properly the securing clip is broken . I pushed it back fully and ran the machine and it was showing an increase in charge so fingers crossed it&#8217;s fixed.<br />

Reading through it definitely looks like the timing is out so I will pop the magneto off and have a go at resetting it. There is a click which seems to occur at the time the points open and there is also a tdc marking on the flywheel so fingers crossed it will start.<br />

It&#8217;s a wico mag looks like 676B it could be a 5 not a 6 at the start but I can&#8217;t see it well enough to be certain. The engine is a Petter A1 3hp @ 1500rpm serial number 1522000. It&#8217;s sold as a replacement for the Ransomes motor triple. I spoke to simply bearings who said they don&#8217;t have the dimensions but would measure them if I wanted. They call them an A MBA4771 which is the old Ransomes part number. The belt that&#8217;s on there now is about 4 mm narrower than the other belt on there. I think it&#8217;s been used helicopter style as we used to call it. Too much line out and too heavy line as well so it&#8217;s destroyed the clutch.</p>

I took your advice and left the discs in situ I could see a disaster coming and it didn&#8217;t seem worth the risk. I put new pads in but was thinking of giving them a light skim on the lathe to perhaps make them work better and so they don&#8217;t wear out the new pads. I have pushed the engine as far forward as it will go but it still slips so I think it&#8217;s new belt time. I&#8217;m looking forward to mowing season so I can finally enjoy using it.<br />

I made a new grass deflector for the middle unit and got all of the brake calipers free and with new pads. The brake discs are a bit pitted but they are serviceable. I have used them where the blades are an inch wide from wear along the bottom edge and they have worked fine although I think if you are in hard ground you are likely to have them snap off. I would look to see they are still overlapping otherwise they will leave undug strips. That&#8217;s a huge help I have found a sprocket but it only had a part number so couldn&#8217;t tell if it was the correct one. I am doing battle with the reel adjusters at the moment 3 out of 6 now working but the others still seized lots of heat and back and forth is doing the trick. Not sure why they would be removed but now I can see the diagram and apart from the springs everything else is present and intact. 									<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Hi it&#8217;s Will I have used JB weld to glue clutch shoe linings back on for my brushcutter also used it on a Hayter Osprey drive clutch both with good results.  I tend to give the metal a rough up to give the glue something to grip to. Fingers crossed for you.<br />

The plunger are well and truly stuck I wondered about using some heat on the caliper but it is iron so I&#8217;m thinking probably not.
