<p>The coil, points and condensor are all brand new and the valves were ground in and gapped at .010&#8243;ex and .008&#8243;in (no data for Aspera so, I used B&amp;S figures) so, these shouldn&#8217;t be a problem.</p>
<p>By the way, what should the torque figures be for the cyl head bolts ? Eventually traced to the fact that some previous owner had screwed the governor adjustment screw on the carb right in (why do people do that ?). <p>Jon Cruse has advised he should have the parts to repair the fuel leak. I&#8217;m waiting on him for a price.<br />
Re. The governor. Am I correct in interpreting what you said as meaning, the governor should be holding the throttle wide open when the engine is not running ?<br />

<p>One thing I did notice when I ran it yesterday was how noisy it was, even with a new &#8220;silencer!&#8221; (Tiny little pepper pot thing with about one baffle !)</p>

									<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I think I may have cracked it. The Governor arm can be adjusted a little on the spindle to the left or right. I had a look and found it was too far to the left, meaning it was holding the throttle open at all times regardless.<br />
I slackened the screw and it moved slightly to the right and immediately the throttle shut. <p>Is this normal on one of these ?</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve connected everything up as it was before and apart from cleaning, haven&#8217;t touched the carb, so I&#8217;m assuming this is how it should be.</p>

<p>Villiers coils are expensive. </p>

<p>Gaskets will have to be re-used with Wellseal or made.</p>

<p>I checked the resistance between the HT lead and earth and the reading was 0</p>
<p>I then checked the resistance between the lead from the coil to the condenser (condenser removed) and the reading was 2.2 with the multimeter set on 200.</p>

<p>Timing would be unaffected however, as that is dependent on the position of the piston relative to TDC, which would be unaffected by which way round it is in the cylinder.</p>

Engine had no spark when I tried it so, and as I have no way of testing coils I am assuming it&#8217;s all U/S. Points are probably OK after a clean and I have seen a condensor on the Meadowbrook page that looks identical.<br />

									<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Eventually got flywheel off. Thanks for suggestions. In the end I used a 3 legged puller, moderate pressure applied and then a sharp tap with a mallet on the end of the puller&#8217;s centre screw. Flywheel fell off easily.<br />

I had no trouble undoing the flywheel nut but, am now stuck as to how to remove the flywheel itself.<br />

If using 2 stroke oil it can usually be relaxed to about 24:1, although I always err on the oily side especially as some old Villiers have plain bearings don&#8217;t use crank seals and rely on a oily mix to stop crank-case leakage.<br />

The second one that is a red B&amp;S one though, whereas the one on the A98 is one of those clear ones with a little paper filter inside and is probably more restrictive.</p>

<p>It appears to be all there and once cleaned up, painted and oiled etc., will be used on the allotment when required.</p>
<p>Can anyone identify the maker for me  ? There&#8217;s no makers plate on it nor, are the handles engraved like on Planet machines.</p>

<p>Personally, I would go for gloss or perhaps semi gloss. My own Howard 200 I painted in gloss and it is quite shiny.</p>

<p>I treated it to some new &#8220;snap-lock&#8221; couplings, shortened the suction hose to a more manageable length, put fresh grease in the greaser and gave it a couple of turns and then greased the threads on the primer plug on the top.</p>

<p>Unfortunately, when I was re-building it, I could find absolutely nothing on the Web or anywhere (even on here) of a technical nature about Pegson Marlow pumps. I guess, being over 50 years old years old (1960) it is unlikely I would !</p>

<p>When I stripped and rebuilt the pump there was nothing even remotely resembling what you are describing inside it I&#8217;m afraid !  It all seemed very basic but, worked well up to recently.</p>

<p>The total lift is only about 1 metre or so, well within its capabilities. The hose is very rigid (too rigid really, makes fitting it very difficult), no problems there. However, the Union is made of nylon and has begun to get a bit worn. Water was dripping out past the threads.</p>

<p>When working, it will pump several gallons in a few seconds but now there does not appear to be any appreciable suction.</p>

<p>The original pulsa-jet carb was used to get my water-pump going so, it needed a new carb.<br />
