The axles don&#8217;t actually have seals&#8230;. They have bronze bushes, which will allow a small amount of oil past. however if there is severe wear on both the shaft and bushes then lots will leak out!<br />
My series 2 Farmers Boy required both a new shaft turning and new bushes fitting to make it almost oil tight. 									<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The trade mark I believe related to the spelling &#8216;rotavator&#8217;&#8230;&#8230;. I&#8217;ve seen many a machine named as a &#8216;rotovator&#8217;&#8230;&#8230;. as well as roto-hoe.<br />
The early Gem before it wad called a Gem was called a Rote-ho. So yet another play with words and spellings!</p>

The discs are actually blue under the orange&#8230;. With no signs of any other colour previously. 									<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Now that it&#8217;s a working running machine it was time to turn my attention to the various attachments I have&#8230;.. The Scythe mower, Tool frame and Hoe&#8217;s, Rotavator, the 22&#8243; Ploughing wheels and Plough&#8230;&#8230;.<br />

My initial thought was to raise the engine by using a piece of 8mm flat plate. Jim Beacon kindly made a new drive shaft for the gearbox and fitted new bronze bushes which required some work to fit the new shaft. Here&#8217;s the gearbox being prepared for paint and reassembly.</p>

									<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Could be timing slightly out? Have you set piston to 5/16ths before TDC, set magneto to just prior to trigger and that should be right&#8230;&#8230;. Fuel should be set so engine idles nicely and revs right up smoothly, no stuttering&#8230;&#8230; </p>

									<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Had the tyres and tubes fitted yesterday, also reassembled the big cast 20&#8243; wheels. The cleats are set different on each wheel. One set with an in/out pattern which runs on the unploughed ground&#8230;. The other with cleats set pointing out, this wheel runs in the furrow and doesn&#8217;t tear up the furrow edge set this way!</p>
