I’ve got a Yeoman and it’s hard to find the build dates for Howards. The only thing I know about the Bantam is they were first built late 40’s/early 50’s and finished production in 1961. The later models had the Villers mk15 engine so your’s should be late 50’s early 60’s. If you need any parts oils etc the green spark plug co is a good place to look.

I did the same with a Howard Yeoman, the build quality was so good I overhauled the whole thing. I’ve also got a Bantam Scythe which I’m overhauling at the moment to adapt to fit the Yeoman. It’s one of those jobs that fiddle with from time to time do among all the other jobs.

I know it might sound strange but have you changed the plug. Not had much to do with Villiers but I do know Hondas are prone to cutting out when hot if the plug is old.

Thank you Andy and Charlie for the information on the ID plates, George at Villiers does have ID plates but I’ve decided that a new one would look wrong on the machine and after a couple hours work I’m happy with the results so I’ll be refitting the originals now. Thanks for the comments Danny it does look better than when I got it home, lots…[Read more]

Hello everyone, new to the forum but not to gardening, as a school kid had to help my father in a large garden it was ploughed by a tractor, rotavated by me and I used a then new Howard 350 (shows my age), fond memories even though hard work, no wonder I ache some mornings even now. Many years later needed a rotavator so bided on a few 350’s, a…[Read more]

I’ve just going through the job of cleaning up a Yeoman, they seem to be prone to people filling the fuel system with water and ending up with heavy corrosion in the carb and tank. After a bit of hard work it all cleaned up and then after a few non printable words and a bit of huffing and puffing it started and ran. Best of luck with the rebuild,…[Read more]
